Maximizing Enjoyment of Your Garden
with George Spiliotis

George Spiliotis was born in the cool foggy environs of the San Francisco peninsula.
His earliest gardening experiences were growing potatoes in the backyard and pinto beans on the windowsill. Shortly after earning his degree at UC Irvine, George and his wife Elaine moved to the hot, dry climate of the Inland Empire.
George immediately began filling his ¾ acre yard with plants and in 2018, his yard was featured in a series of short videos produced by Landscape Integrity Films & Education (LIFE) promoting the use of California native plants. In addition to tending to his own garden, George is a volunteer docent at the UC Riverside Botanical Gardens and also enjoys saltwater fishing.
We all seem to derive some pleasure from gardening or we wouldn't be doing it. But is there more? George will discuss how we can take increased delight in the fruits of our labor. We will examine how we can use all our senses to gain a greater appreciation of gardens, gardening and natural environments. Along the way, George will share tips on growing some favorite California natives.
